Zbrush and Mudbox are fairly close to each other in terms of pricing (based on online store price), and both are kinda twice the price of 3D-Coat. Mari is the most expensive, and only does painting, so you can perhaps dismiss that if you also want sculpting. But I guess you have to weigh up the pros and cons and what you get for your money. If budget is your main restriction, then 3D-Coat appears to be a good alternative option to Zbrush, Mudbox and Mari. From people I've seen and spoken too, many like and favour the retopo tools. It's fine if you are always making naked people but if you have lots of armor and separate parts it makes me want to blow my brains out. I will say that the one thing that bugged the B-Jesus out me with 3d-Coat is that they don't support multiple meshes. I still felt like I was placing each very manually with Topoguns tools. Personally I like 3d-Coast topo tools way way better than Topoguns. You basically have to place all the edges manually. ![]() Zbrush's retopology is half-arsed and feature limited. The retopology doesn't compare to Zbrush. ![]() It's cool dude if you are into that but IMO it shouldn't be on your product website. Also, its really weird that on the "Downlaod" page there is like a 10 page Dear Diary religious rant. What is up with that? It sorta turns me off.
