It is the distance of a point from the vertical line or y axis. Ordinate can be referred to as how distant a point is from the x axis.It is measured parallel to the horizontal x axis. Suppose we want to point coordinates (5,6) on the (0,0), we will mark 5 on the positive side of the x axis that is the first quadrant. It implies that the value of x axis here is 0, as well the value of y axis is 0.The point of intersection where both the axes meet is called ‘origin’, and is denoted by (0,0).It is measured in a parallel manner with respect to the y axis lying vertically on the graph. Then we will mark 6 on the y axis in the first quadrant, as both of the coordinate values are positive here. Trigonometric Values in Different Quadrants Then we will put a point on (0,0) which is the origin, and finally join the two points by drawing a line. There are six different types of trigonometric functions. These are sine, cosine, tangent, cot, sec, and cosec. In the first quadrant and the second quadrant, the sine function has positive values in the graph. Each of them have different values in the quadrant. The cosine function observes positive values in the first and fourth quadrant.Cosec values are similar to that of sine, so it will have positive values and negative values like that of sine function. This function records negative values in the third and fourth quadrant. The tangent trigonometric function has positive values in the first and third quadrant. The sec function has similar values like that of cosine’s so it will also have positive values in the first and fourth quadrant, and negative values in the second and third quadrant. They have negative values in the second and third quadrant. The point where the x-axis and the y-axis intersect is known as origin with coordinates (0,0).Quadrants are the areas which form when two coordinate axes of the plane intersect with each other at an angle of 90 degree. When the horizontal x axis and the vertical y axis intersect each other, a cartesian plane is formed. The cot function has similar values like that of tan function.Apart from this, it reads negative values in the second and fourth quadrant.
